Anxiety, Uncertainty, and Obedience: When Fear Tries to Silence Your Purpose

Tonight, as I sat preparing my social media content for the next few weeks, something unexpected happened. I hesitated. What should have been a simple task planning a post about Easter suddenly felt heavy. My thoughts started racing:

What if I don’t get clients because of this? What if someone judges me?What if I’m targeted because of my beliefs?

And just like that… anxiety crept in.

Not loud. Not obvious. But subtle, questioning, and convincing.

When Anxiety Sounds Like “What If…”

Anxiety doesn’t always show up as panic.Sometimes it whispers in possibilities.

It disguises itself as:

  • Overthinking

  • Second-guessing

  • Playing it safe

  • Shrinking your voice

It asks questions that feel logical but are rooted in fear, not truth.

The Weight of Uncertainty

Uncertainty is uncomfortable because it asks us to move without guarantees.

As a business owner, a therapist, and a woman of faith, I know this space well:

  • You want to be authentic… but also strategic

  • You want to be bold… but also safe

  • You want to serve… but also be accepted

And when those things feel like they might conflict, anxiety steps in to “protect” you.

But protection and limitation can look very similar.

The Moment of Conviction

As I sat in that tension, I felt something shift.

Not pressure.Not shame.But conviction.

A quiet reminder:

“You’re not called to move based on fear you’re called to move in truth.”

And I had to ask myself:

  • Am I holding back to stay safe?

  • Or am I stepping forward in alignment with who I am?

Because the truth is…Avoiding discomfort might feel like peace, but it’s not the same as obedience.

Faith vs. Fear in Business and Life

Let’s be honest this isn’t just about a post.

This is about:

  • Showing up fully in your identity

  • Not shrinking to make others comfortable

  • Trusting that the right people will align with you

Fear says: “What if this costs you something?”Faith says: “What if this is exactly what you’re called to do?”

Grounding Yourself in Moments Like This

If you’ve ever felt this tension here are a few gentle anchors:

  • Pause and name it: “This is anxiety, not truth.”

  • Challenge the thought: What evidence supports this fear? What doesn’t?

  • Return to your why: Why did you start? Who are you called to serve?

  • Choose alignment over approval: Not everyone is your audience and that’s okay

Final Reflection

Tonight reminded me that anxiety often shows up right before alignment.

Right before growth.Right before obedience.

And the question isn’t whether fear will come it will.

The question is:

Will you let fear edit your voice… or will you show up anyway?

Affirmation

I release the need to be understood by everyone.I trust that who I am is enough for who I am called to serve.I move forward in alignment, not fear.

Stay Connected

If this resonated with you, I want to invite you to stay connected beyond this space.

I’ll be sharing the Easter post that stretched me, challenged me, and ultimately reminded me to choose alignment over fear and I’d love for you to be part of that moment.
